Photography Composition
Image Compositions
The composition of an image is the process by which they organize their various visual elements to cause a certain effect and a sense of wholeness.
When composing a picture is good to keep in mind the following principles:
Clarity and simplicity: In a composition of visual elements should not interfere, is not correct in terms of composition of ambiguity, it is important to the simplicity of this. The clarity and simplicity is not opposed to the complexity of an image.
Harmony: Elements of the composition bear a resemblance to each other by color, shape, lines, lights …
Contrast is based on the differentiation of its elements, as a way to strengthen the significance of each one of them.
Balance: This is that each element of the image is “in place”, that there is no empty meaningless random one hand and charges for the other. The balance can be achieved by static composition and dynamic composition.
The static composition is obtained through three techniques, symmetry, repetition of elements and the organization of space into regular units.
The Importance of Learning Photography Composition
The theme of the composition seems fundamental to me and what I have interest in learning more and more difficult I think. I think a well exposed picture and well treated, it can not work without a good composition. The more I study the issue more clear what I have. And I’m not talking about rules that you must fulfill, because the rules are to skip if the message to be transmitted as required.
I mean people, his mind unconsciously read the image one way (up and down / left. To right, closing forms, completing sequences …) and the photographer should help the viewer to your eyes flow naturally (with lines of flight, distribution of light / shadow, light-colored / dark, depth of field given negative spaces, distribution of objects / subjects, etc.). and stay touring the image without removing it, long enough for you to get the message that the photographer trying to convey.
However, another option is that the photographer try to direct the viewer in a “forced”, ie in the opposite or different that it would be natural, when you need to convey your message. For example (a classic), a horizontal image of a person walking to the right, if the photographer wants to convey tension in the viewer, could leave a negative space to the subject’s back and just space in front of him, looking like strange and disturbing to be hit under the photo.
The “rule” would you have to make room for the subject to go, since its natural direction is towards the right and the mind tries to follow, but the intention of the photographer can impact the viewer and to do so, you have to jump that rule. And there are many examples like this.
